Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Risk Assessment (RA) are critical components of the Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) implementation cycle. Accurate data collected during this phase is essential to developing effective recovery strategies, minimising disruption, and avoiding unnecessary costs.
This course will equip you with the practical skills to independently develop BIA and RA assessments for your business units. Through a structured combination of guided learning, case studies, and hands-on exercises, you will learn how to identify key business impacts, assess risks, and contribute to organisation-wide business recovery planning.
Developed in alignment with ISO 22301 requirements, the course includes practical BIA and RA templates to support immediate workplace application. It is ideal for organisations that are establishing a BCMS programme, enhancing existing practices to align with ISO standards, or preparing new coordinators for ongoing BCMS maintenance.

Day 1 Conduct Risk Assessment and Business Impact Analysis
- State the purpose of BIA & RA and their respective processes
- Identify PAs within the business unit(s)
- Analyse and quantify the impact of internal & external influencing factors
- Analyse interdependencies and resources of PAs
- Identify & analyse threats that may disrupt your business operations to determine the probability & impact of each risk/threat
- Recommend solutions and/or mitigating strategies
