Why Specialised Training for Damage Assessment & Salvage Team and Why Now?
Disasters are often unforeseeable and unpredictable, yet the damage they cause can significantly disrupt daily operations and result in substantial business losses. To minimise the impact of such events, organisations need an effective process for damage assessment and salvage as part of their overall response and recovery efforts.
This course provides an overview of the roles and processes involved in damage assessment and salvage following a disaster. It covers how the Damage Assessment Team (DAT) conducts a preliminary onsite assessment of damage or loss before formal claims or disaster declarations are filed, as well as how the salvage team determines whether affected items and property can be recovered and how soon the site can be returned to normal operations.

Day 1 Specialised Training for Damage Assessment & Salvage Team
- Overview of BCMS framework, team structures and roles & responsibilities
- Overview of roles & responsibilities of Damage Assessment and Salvage teams and their purpose in the BCMS programme
- To illustrate the activation procedures, review process and initial steps of recovery for the Damage Assessment Team and salvage procedures for the Salvage Team
- Review the factors involved to ensure safety for all salvage personnel involved, and assess the feasibility of salvage, peacetime duties and contacting vendors
- Develop customised damage assessment and salvage procedure checklists based on different situations, requirements and extent of damage

1 day (9 am – 5 pm, including 1-hour lunch break)
- Face-to-face course facilitated with lectures, case-studies and other interactive group activities. This course will cover the responsibilities of the team members and the procedures involved for the damage assessment and salvage teams
